Chili con Chocolate

Chili con Chocolate

For the cold season, hot dishes with a little spice are just perfect. Therefore, we have a super simple recipe today that warms you up wonderfully from the inside. Our Chili con Chocolate is vegan, quick to prepare - and a dream for all chocolate lovers! You have never heard of this combination, or tried it? Then it's high time you did!

For about 4 servings you need:

  • 60 g bulgur
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 250 ml vegetable broth
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp. chili powder or optionally 1 chopped chili pepper
  • 3 tsp. sweet paprika powder
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 can/jar of red kidney beans
  • 1 can/jar of sweet corn
  • 350 g strained tomatoes
  • 40-50 g fairafric chocolate 80% cocoa

First, chop the onion, garlic, bell pepper and carrot into small pieces. Onions and garlic can then be heated directly with the olive oil in a pot or deep pan.
Add the bulgur, season everything with chili, cumin, paprika and pepper and sauté.

Next, add the bell bell pepper and carrot. Fry these again briefly before deglazing everything with vegetable broth. Let the chili mixture simmer for 5 minutes until the bulgur is slightly swollen.

Then add the strained tomatoes, beans and corn and simmer gently for another 5-10 minutes.
Last, of course, comes the magic ingredient: about half a bar of 80% dark chocolate! Just break it into coarse pieces and stir it in until it is completely melted.

Let the chili sit for a while, season if necessary, and the delicious dish is ready.
It is best enjoyed with some bread for dipping and a small dash of (vegan) crème fraîche.

P.S. You can also replace the bulgur with soy granules or use chopped instead of strained tomatoes to give the chili a little more texture.
